Better to be Fruitful
Men’s Monday Minute
“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find.” - Proverbs 20:6
We see in this verse the advice from a father to his son. He points out that there are always men who talk about their goodness. They proclaim good intentions, or they boast of who they are. Yet it is better to be found faithful in our actions than good with our words.
It is far too easy to intend to do good things without following through. Too many men talk about what they intend to do, yet when the time comes to start the doing they are nowhere to be found. Such is not the case with a faithful man. A faithful man can be depended on, he will keep his word and he will be where he said he would be; doing what he said he would do. We need to resolve to be faithful men.
It will help us to be faithful as men when we also surround ourselves with faithful men. Make your closest friends men who are faithful and their actions alone will encourage you to be as faithful as you should be as well.
Lastly, we must train up young men after us to be faithful as well. Let’s teach our sons and grandsons what it means to be faithful, to be a man of our word. We have an opportunity to be a generation of faithful men, and raise a generation of faithful men once again in our modern day.
