When In Distress

Men’s Monday Minute

“In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.” (Psalm 120:1)

The word distress means extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain. How often do we find ourselves in distress? Our distress tends to make us irritable and cross with those that we love. We seek to ease our distress in engaging in some activity or entertainment in an effort to distract us from the distress. Yet, if we are wise we will take our distress to the Lord and seek His aid.

Why is it that we find it so hard to cry to the Lord in our distress? Some may feel that their distress in petty in the eyes of the Lord. Others may feel that they must bear their distress on their own shoulders. Sadly still others are too far away from the Lord to have considered crying to Him at all.

We can be assured that if we will cry to the Lord in our distress He will hear us and He will be there to be our help in out time of need.
