Men’s Monday Minute

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.” (Proverbs 3:13)

Sometimes we believe we can picture what will bring us happiness as men. Maybe sometimes that picture includes a bass boat and a peaceful day fishing at the lake. Maybe it includes a set of clubs and an afternoon on the fairway. (For those who can keep their ball on the fairway! :) Maybe it includes a workshop full of useful tools. For those who are husbands and fathers I surely hope your picture includes your wife and your children. All of these are fine things, hobbies and families. They certainly bring an element of joy into our life. However, the Scriptures tell us that a man who finds wisdom finds happiness. A man who finds understanding finds happiness.

Our Heavenly Father is the source of all wisdom, and His word is the ground where he has buried for us wisdom. We should seek it as silver, and search for it as hid treasures. (Proverbs 2:4) In this, when we have found wisdom, we will be happy men. Spend time in the Word of God searching for wisdom, once you have found a nugget of wisdom, study it, examine it, that you might truly understand it. In this there is a lasting happiness and true joy to be found.
